CRYSTALLINE DESIGN

ŠKODA's current design language, introduced with the VISION D concept in 2011, grabs your attention with its ingenious marriage of aesthetics and functionality. In practice, this means that ŠKODAs can offer breathtaking timeless design with a rich interior and high-end practicality. Bohemian crystal and cubism were the traditions inspiring our design.

VR EXPERIENCE

An important role in the design of new cars is played by digital technology, spearheaded by virtual reality. ŠKODA can resemble a gamers’ convention rather than a car factory: 3D glasses, controllers and large screens are part of day-to-day work. They enable experts to design quickly and simply while directly trying out ergonomic and technical solutions, e.g. in the car's interior.

DESIGN AWARDS

Our efforts at innovative design have earned us not only happy customers, but also the industry's Red Dot Awards, of which we have 14, most recently for the ŠKODA OCTAVIA. To receive the coveted Design Award, products have to impress the jury in criteria such as the degree of innovation, design quality, functionality and environmental compatibility.

LAURA VOICE ASSISTANT

Now you can control the car with Laura, an assistant who understands normal speech. Laura will help you to control the navigation, media, infotainment, air-conditiong and text messages. You simply wake her up with the words “Okay, Laura” and you can then start talking to her. Laura already supports six languages – English, German and French as well as Spanish, Italian and Czech.

MANUFACTURING 4.0

When speaking about innovations in the automobile industry, most of us think of new solutions and technology used directly in automobiles. However, the changes which the production and development processes pass through are no less important. We constantly endeavour to ensure that our production is environmentally friendly and up-to-date with the latest developments.

ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY

Despite ŠKODA AUTO has more than tripled the volume of produced vehicles since joining the Volkswagen in 1991, the absolute level of the burden on the environment has not increased in any way. Indeed, the opposite is true and significant falls can be noted in the case of some indicators, such as water and energy consumption, waste generation or atmospheric emissions.

STATE-OF-THE-ART

Industry 4.0 is characterised by the onset of automation. Here, too, we are blazing a trail, introducing the first robots to cooperate with human colleagues on the production line. Take our lightweight robot “iiwa”, working on selected high-precision tasks, and robots seeing to the intake and dispatch of goods at the parts store.

INNOVATIVE

We are constantly working on ways to make the production and logistics more efficient. An example of this is the 4-in-1 packaging solution: thanks to purpose-built wooden constructions, four instead of the previous three body shells can be transported in a single container. This means a reduction of CO₂ emissions in transit between the Czech Republic and India by a quarter.

The foundation for future sustainable development lies in ŠKODA’s 2025 Strategy. It is based on four pillars.
